Music Therapy

What is music therapy?
According to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Music therapy interventions can be designed to:

  • promote wellness
  • manage stress
  • alleviate pain
  • express feelings
  • enhance memory
  • improve communication
  • promote physical rehabilitation.

Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in a wide variety of healthcare and educational settings. For more information about music therapy please visit www.musictherapy.org/faqs.html

I have worked with clients providing music therapy in various settings including pain management, end of life treatment, stress reduction, and working with children with disabilities. Music therapy can be placed on an IEP. An IEP assessment for music therapy can by given by anyone familiar with the child and how he or she responds to music. For more information about this please contact me through the contact page.

In-home sessions are 60 minutes for $90. An initial assessment session may be longer.
