Lessons

Piano, Voice, Beginner Guitar

I believe every individual has the ability to become a musician.. What sets me apart from most private music lesson instructors is my knowledge of education methods, learning theories, and differentiated learning techniques. It takes a good performer and an even better teacher to produce an exceptional musician. Along with being a teacher, I am also a certified music therapist. While I never attempt to do therapy in my lessons, my therapy background allows me to see the student as a whole and teach accordingly, being sensitive to the needs of each student.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is dependent upon the goals and needs of each student. I approach each lesson in a fun, friendly, and gentle manner recognizing that students are taking music lessons to both learn a new skill and have fun. I have taught students from 4-65 years old and regularly check in with the student to make sure that my teaching style is meeting her or his needs.

What To Expect
Depending on the student, the first few lessons will be used to assess the goals of the student and parents, learning styles, and level of the student. During these lessons books will either be purchased from me, or recommended for purchase by the student or parent. Students will be given weekly assignments and goals with a recommendation for practice time. Practice is imperative to success in music and will be stressed regularly.

Recitals are highly encouraged for younger students, adult students are not required to perform.
